Heritage Great Britain looking to develop site

A company which is hoping to re-develop the Port Soderick site on the Island's east coast, says it hopes to outline its plans for development of the area later this year.

Heritage Great Britain plc acquired the site last summer and says it has already taken action to improve the security of the area and make good any structural defects in the buildings.

The firm has declined to give interviews at this stage, but in a statement says it's already in discussions with an Island-based architect and consultants.

Based on Albert Dock in Liverpool, Heritage Great Britain is the company behind UK visitor attractions such as the Snowdon Mountain Railway, The Needles Landmark Attraction on the Isle of Wight and John O'Groats in Scotland.

It's also opening a 'Mattel Play!' theme park in Liverpool later this month.

The Port Soderick site - once a major attraction for tourists - has been derelict for many years.
