Local woman raises funds for Alder Hey and heart research

Daughter had operation at just four weeks of age

A local woman, whose baby was born with a very rare heart defect, is holding a special party to celebrate her life - and raise funds.

Emily Cattle's little girl Catherine was born last November with a heart condition known as Tetralogy of Fallots, which affects just four in every 10,000 babies.

After early diagnosis on the Island, Catherine underwent a successful operation at Alder Hey at just four weeks old, the earliest age at which surgeons had ever carried out such a procedure.

She's now healthy and happy and Emily is wanting to hold a special "pink" party to raise funds for Alder Hey and the British Heart Foundation: (play audio)

You can make a donation via the Just Giving Page, search for Catherine Cattle open heart surgery at just four weeks old.

The Pink Party at Pulrose Golf Club will be held on April 1, and if you'd like to help Emily in any way you email her on emilydavies@manx.net
