Gawne: PAC report 'politically motivated'

DoI boss accuses members of point-scoring

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says while he accepts his department did breach financial regulations, an investigation into the issue has turned into a politically-motivated attack.

This week, Tynwald approved a Public Accounts Committee report and a motion reminding departments of the importance of following the rules.

Mr Gawne says the probe, into the dredging of silt in Peel harbour, missed some evidence because committee members didn’t want to hear it.

And he says he suspects the looming elections may have meant some members were more interested in political point-scoring:
