Karran: party secretary didn't write questions

Winding-up of companies issue raised in Tynwald

Lib Van MHK Peter Karran says questions about companies wound up because they owe tax to the government weren’t written by his party’s secretary.

Jamie Irving was a director of Street Heritage, one of only three companies wound up because of debts to the government in the past five years.

He and his father Jonathan unsuccessfully sued senior civil servants over the case, including the assessor of income tax, attorney general and chief secretary.

This week in Tynwald, six of Mr Karran’s seven questions dealt with the issue – linking it to the Sefton Group’s bailout in 2013.

But Mr Karran says the two are unrelated:
