Latest offender fined ?5,000

Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Richard Ronan says his department is sending out a strong message about illegal fishing.

It comes after an Irish trawlerman was fined £5,000 for fishing king scallops in a closed area off the Island's west coast.

The authorities were alerted thanks to a satellite tracker fitted to the man's boat.

Mr Ronan says those who stray off limits will be caught.
