Admission of provoking behaviour

A Castletown man who had to be restrained at Noble's hospital has admitted a charge of provoking behaviour.

Twenty-two-year-old Dean Anthony Kinley, of Stenning Place, had been taken there by police after being involved in a dispute with some neighbours, resulting in him kicking a door and headbutting a window.

That had resulted in him sustaining a large cut to his head.

The court heard Kinley's demeanour had been calm on the way to the hospital, but that changed once inside.

He headbutted a hand sanitiser and verbally abused members of staff.

Kinley was restrained, but tried to bite the cannula out of his arm to, quote, 'show the biggest blood fountain on the Island'.

He was then sedated.

Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes has adjourned sentencing until April 19, for a Probation Service report to be prepared.

A charge of criminal damage, which Kinley had admitted, has been dropped.
