The library is running a Spy Academy, with activities every day, to see if there are any budding James Bonds out there.

Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘We know lots of our children are inquisitive by their very nature, so we thought we would channel that with our Spy Academy. As well as the Spy Academy listed events, we have other drop-in activities throughout the fortnight.’

The Spy Academy opens its doors on Tuesday, March 29, with the Academy Identity session (?2 to take part).

On March 30, for just ?1, you can find out how to make a fake passport!

March 31, from 1.30pm, there is a Spy Gadget session, to make sure spies are all fully equipped (?2), while on April 1, children can learn about code cracking (?1).

The Academy resumes again on April 5, with a making binoculars day (?2), while April 6 is all about creating a ‘ransom note’ (?1).

On April 7, from 1.30pm, you can learn all about invisible ink ?1), and on Friday, April 8, from 1.30pm, find out how to make a cup phone (?2).

All activities run through the day, except where stipulated.

Other special events to be held during the school holidays include on Saturday, April 2, magic from Swedish magician Dozzie, arranged by the Young Magicians of Mann. He will be performing for free from 11am to 11.40am.

On Friday, April 8, there is also the chance to meet the marvellous mutts from the police dogs unit, from 10.30am-11.30am. This is another free event.
