On Thursday 7 April World Health Day will be marked with a special consideration for the global rise in diabetes incidences and the debilitating health and social costs as a result. Type 2 Diabetes has made a disturbing surge in recent decades leading a recent study to find 1 in every 2 adults in the USA are diabetic or pre-diabetic. As means to raise awareness of the theme of this year's World Health Day and of the recommendations of the World Health Organisation in its 2016 report entitled Ending Childhood Obesity, the Isle of Man United Nations Association will host a special presentation by lawyer Andrew Newton, who has been working for the last year on the design of a sugar sweetened beverage tax for the Isle of Man.
The presentation will be held at the Pavilion in Nobles Park from 7pm on Thursday 7 April.
