Residents of the Isle of Man are being asked to participate in an extensive survey of social attitudes.
The survey is being conducted for the Cabinet Office by Island Global Research, an independent research firm based in Guernsey.
Information from the survey, along with the results of the national census which will be conducted on 24 April, will help shape government’s future policy making.
The survey includes 78 questions and should take about 20 minutes to complete. It asks about use of social media and access to the internet, involvement in the community and politics, and participation in sporting and leisure activities. Some questions explore attitudes towards healthy living, being “Manx”, immigration and population and the level of confidence in local institutions including government and the media.
A previous survey was undertaken in 2002; the aim of this survey is to compare current attitudes with previous research and with current attitudes in other jurisdictions.
Residents wishing to participate can complete the survey online at http://survey.islandglobalresearch.com/s3/IOMSocialAttitudesSurvey-2016.
Alternatively people may complete a paper version of the survey, which can be picked up at several locations around the Isle of Man:
• Ramsey Town Library
• Peel Town Hall
• Castletown Civic Centre
• Cabinet Office, 3rd floor, Government Office, Douglas
Island Global Research will collate the results ensuring that the confidentiality of all respondents is maintained, and will provide anonymised data to the Cabinet Office.
A report summarising the findings and the datasets will be published later in the year on www.gov.im
Completed surveys will be eligible for a prize draw.
