MERS hopeful over tram car rebuild

Derailment caused significant damage

The Manx Electric Railway Society is hopeful a key piece of the Island's heritage transport network can be saved.

An unattended, empty tram car - which was one of the originals - derailed near the Bungalow on Wednesday, having rolled down the track from the summit of Snaefell.

It suffered significant damage.

Julian Nutter of MERS says what's happened is sad, but he's optimistic the car can be rebuilt:
