World Championship Bonnag Bake Off - at Dalby schoolrooms

This is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for: time to get out your mixing bowls and dig out your Grand Mother’s recipe book, to see if you have what it takes to become the New World Champion  Bonnag Maker!  

Dalby is hosting a truly Manx night with judges Mona Kerruish and Jill Cain; Peter Qualtrough as Compare & Auctioneer and entertainment for the evening by Terry Qualtrough with the Southern Belles, followed by a Manx Supper with plenty of  home-baking ... and of course plenty of Bonnag!

 The Bonnag World Championships, sponsored by Shoprite, now have three trophies for: Gents, Ladies, and Children’s classes, as well as the Shoprite Trophy for professional bakers, caterers and catering establishments, with a  Highly Commended certificate presented to all qualifying commercial entries. We have also introduced a new gluten free category this year. The IoM Creameries Trophy will be presented to the overall winner and World Champion.

So, all contestants are now formally invited to start practising, so that you can bring your own world class Bonnag, on a paper plate please with your name and category printed on the base of the plate, to the championships on Friday 15th April at 7.30pm. Admission @ ?7.50 includes supper, to book please ring Gilly on 844031.  Proceeds go to Dalby Church Restoration Fund  as well as the two charities selected for this year: The Manx Charity: Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, and the Manx charity working Overseas:  Excellent Development
