Mangeocaching®, the organisers of last year’s successful ‘ManxCacheFest’ haveorganised a special event to mark ‘International Cache In Trash Out’ (CITO)weekend on Saturday 16th April 2016.For the past 13 years, geocachers around the world have celebrated
International Cache In Trash Out weekend annually by hosting and participating
in Cache In Trash Out Events in their local area.
Cache In Trash Out® is an on-going environmental initiative supported by the
worldwide geocaching community. Since 2002, geocachers around the world
have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly places.
Through these volunteer efforts, they help preserve the natural beauty of
outdoor resources.
The local event, which is supported by Douglas Borough Council and Braddan
Commissioners, will focus on RECYCLING and is in two parts:
10:00 - 11:00 A tour of Douglas Borough Council's Recycling facility.
The tour will last 1 hour and there will be an educational presentation on
recycling and also chance to see what happens to recycled waste here on
the island.
11:30 - 12:30 The group will assemble outside Braddan Commissioners' office and collect
bags, litter pickers etc. and proceed along the Heritage Trail and into Cronk
Grianagh Park to collect as much discarded rubbish as possible. Braddan
Commissioners supply all the equipment and remove all the collected rubbish.
The group will of course recycle what they can.
Then it’s back to the Commissioner’s office for some refreshments.
The event is published on geocaching.com on this link:

recycling on the island. The CITO initiative is an important part of improving the
island's amenities and recycling will help to reduce the island's carbon footprint.
