Entries Open for IOM Cyclefest Team Relay

by isleofman.com 7th April 2016
Entries are now open for the Jewson Team Relay Race, part of the four day Isle of Man Cyclefest presented by Isle of Man Bank.

Isle of Man Cyclefest, which runs from 12th to 15th May 2016, will feature two days of thrilling criterium racing around Mooragh Park in Ramsey followed by two days of mass participation multi-discipline cycling from the event hub at Milntown Estate.

Following a day of professional racing with the Pearl Izumi Tour Series on Thursday 12th May, which will also include local school children competing on the same course in a curtain raiser, Friday 13th May will feature a series of events making up the Ocean Motor Village Community Day.

One of the most competitive is expected to be the Jewson Team Relay, which is open to teams of five from any kind of group – all that is required is a team name! Teams are expected from companies, social groups and sporting clubs who will all be looking to down the colours of the local cycling clubs.

The team of five will each race independently in a relay situation around the same 1 mile closed road Mooragh Park Course Park that the professionals tackled the previous day in the opening round of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series, which the Isle of Man is hosting for the first time this year. All five riders times will contribute to the team’s overall finishing position.

Paul Phillips, Director, Isle of Man Cyclefest, commented:

“We have worked closely with our partners at Sweetspot, who are running the Pearl Izumi Tour Series Races, to ensure that all of the infrastructure that they bring in for the professional races will remain in place for Friday’s events which will really give people the chance to experience what it’s like to take part in a professional cycle race.”

Entries, which are now live at www.iomcyclefest.com, are priced at ?100 per team for a team of five, which will include a donation to Isle of Man Cyclefest's official charity partner Rebecca House.
