UK tourist chief says tram system safe

Go ahead with prom plans, suggests Blackpool tsar

The Head of Blackpool's Visitor Economy says Douglas should be less worried about the prospect of trams on its promenade walkway.

The Department of Infrastructure was recently forced to scrap plans to renovate the capital's seafront, chiefly over concerns about the safety of having horse trams running alongside pedestrians.

It's recently submitted a revised planning application - but with no mention of the trams.

Phillip Welsh is the chief of Blackpool's 'Tourism Tsar'.

He says the town has fared perfectly well with its own similar system.
