First sitting since Easter

Horse trams, the Post Office and the redevelopment of Douglas Promenade are all due to be discussed by the House of Keys today (Tuesday).

When it sits this morning, the House will have 25 questions for oral answer, along with another 11 for written reply.

Legislation covering the police, local authorities and building control and our national health service will also be debated.

And there’s also a move to introduce new laws about how corporatising pieces of government could be carried out.

West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas will ask members to give him leave to introduce a Private Member’s Bill about corporatized public sector entities.

His request comes a week after the chairman of the Post Office Graham Cregeen was sacked after disagreeing with the board over moves to make the service more commercial.

Onchan MHK David Quirk will call for a report into the Post Office to be published, while Michael MHK Alf Cannan will ask Treasury Minister Eddie Teare why Mr Cregeen was sacked.
