Give local authorities 'meaningful' power

'Successive governments have failed to reform local authorities'

Local authorities risk becoming an irrelevance without meaningful power.

So believes the Chief Minister who admits he’s disappointed but not surprised there will be elections in only six of the Island's 22 local authorities later this month.

Allan Bell says he remains a passionate supporter of commissioners and councillors around the Island.

He says successive governments have failed to reform local authorities in any meaningful way.
