System of hotspots in town
Douglas Council has unveiled a new strategy to tackle the problem of dog fouling.
A new system will designate hotspots into four tiers.
There’ll also be a new system of responses from council workers with special consideration to the main shopping area, commercial areas and Promenade.
The borough wardens will look at reports each week, with hotspots designated where there are repeat problems.
A Level 1 hotspot would see two fouling incidents in a fortnight and see a warning stencilled onto the pavement, and if it’s been a hotspot twice in a month there’ll be warden patrols and “Clean it up”.
Level 3 hotspots are areas that have had problems for two months, and will get poster and stickers campaigns, leaflets to nearby homes and heightened patrols by wardens.
After three months, the site would be dubbed a Level 4 hotspot and could see CCTV cameras installed to monitor the area.
