Councillor Sara Hackman, the Mayor of Douglas has sent a message of congratulations, on behalf of the people of Douglas, to Her Majesty the Queen to mark Her Majesty’s 90th birthday.

In her message The Mayor wrote of the ‘profound respect’ in which The Queen is held in Douglas and across the Manx nation. She extended ‘every good wish’ to Her Majesty and offered congratulations ‘on achieving this milestone in a life dedicated to unwavering service.’

Council leader David Christian said: ‘In a changing and uncertain world Her Majesty the Queen is an enduring image of stability and selfless devotion to service.

‘On the occasions when Her Majesty has visited Douglas it has always been truly a cause for celebration. The occasion of Her Majesty’s 90th birthday on April 21 will provide us all – in Douglas and throughout the Isle of Man – with an opportunity not only to celebrate but also to reflect on the remarkable dedication spanning more than 60 years of the longest-ever reigning monarch in the history of the British Isles, a monarch whom we are proud to call Lord of Mann.’
