Steam Packet welcomes appointment of new TT promoter

by isleofman.com 21st April 2016
The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company has welcomed the appointment, by the Department of Economic Development, of a new promoter for the TT and Classic TT.

Earlier this week Tynwald voted to approve the Department of Economic Development’s proposal to award the contract to events company Vision Nine.

Steam Packet Company Chief Executive Mark Woodward said: ‘We fully support the appointment of a new promoter, to develop and grow these iconic events for the benefit of the whole of the Manx economy.

‘We appreciate that concerns have been raised about overall visitor capacity in light of Vision Nine’s aim to substantially increase visitor numbers for TT and Classic TT over the next 10 years.

‘The Steam Packet Company has presented an “Offer” to Government for a new Strategic Sea Services Agreement that will help address the crucial issue of visitor capacity, and we are hopeful that Tynwald will have the chance to support that proposal within the next few months.’
