Beach Buddies at Castletown this weekend

by isleofman.com 22nd April 2016
Beach Buddies will be going south this coming weekend, and has organised an event at Castletown Bay from 10.30am on Sunday morning.

New volunteers have been a feature of recent events, with a record turn-out two weeks ago at Ballaugh and a record for volunteer numbers at Niarbyl last weekend.

Castletown Bay is another stretch of coastline which suffers badly from marine rubbish, and is a regular on the hit-list for Beach Buddies.

The meeting point is the second car park past Hango Hill, on the way out towards Derbyhaven.

As always, all equipment will be provided, and Beach Buddies will recycle as much of the material collected as possible, and dispose of all rubbish afterwards. Volunteers are asked to wear suitable clothing and footwear, and younger volunteers may wish to bring their own small-sized gloves.

New volunteers are also given a brief safety talk before their first session of beach cleaning, and families (including well behaved dogs) are warmly welcome.

Anyone interested in future events, which this summer will involve many more midweek and evening sessions, can register for information on the charity’s Facebook page - “Beach Buddies Isle of Man”.
