AGM at Keyll Darree

An Island cancer charity is to announce which causes are to benefit for a year's fund-raising on Friday.

The Isle of Man Anti-Cancer Association holds it annual general meeting in Keyll Darree at Noble's Hospital at 7.30pm, which is open to non-members.

UK expert on the treatment of bowel cancer Professor Arthur Sun Myint has been invited to give the keynote speech.

He will discuss his pioneering work treating rectal and anal tumours with targeted radiotherapy, as an alternative to surgery.

Island patients have benefited from the treatment at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Mersyside - a cause to which the Asssociaiton donated £35,000 in 2013.

The charity's chairman, Dr Malcolm Clague, will announce donations to a number of hospitals, research centres and patient organisations, from the year's fund-raising activities.

Dr Clague will also give an update on a pledge made last year to help fund a new Clatterbridge Centre:
