Queen's Pier "unlocking" this Sunday

by isleofman.com 25th April 2016
A community restoration project, led by Tom Durrant, to restore the historic Queen's Pier in Ramsey is one step nearer its goal after the keys to the pier were released by the Island's Government to enable a survey to take place.

The pier, which has been closed to the public since the early 1990s, was a popular attraction for visitors and locals alike.

An official "unlocking" event is planned for this Sunday, 1st May, from 2.30pm onwards and everyone is invited to witness this great event.

Tom Durrant said: "We want you all to come to Ramsey to see the Queen's Pier being unlocked by the Queen's Pier Restoration Trust.  Nine year old Alfie from Ramsey will be performing the unlocking ceremony at 2.30pm.  All your faces will be included in this historical event.  Preparations will start at 11am with a Government road closure order. Giving time for cars to be temporary moved and a Canteen to be organised.  A Red Letter day for us all.  Let the peoples' pier survey start!"

It should be noted that the public will be unable to walk along the pier.
