Hazel Hannan back on the board

Peel’s local authority has seen a return to politics for a former town MHK.

Hazel Hannan was one of the successful seven candidates who were voted onto the board out of a total of 12 would-be commissioners.

She had been a commissioner before she was served as Peel’s House of Keys representative from 1986 to 2006, when she lost to Tim Crookall.

The other winners were Edward Convery, Ian Davison, Benjamin Heath, Alan Jones, David Lace and Christine Moughtin.

Those who weren’t elected to the board are Terence Bennion, Derek Cannon, Kenneth Diak, Leonard Spencer and Roger Willis.

Turnout in Peel at 36% was slightly above average for local elections.

Mrs Hannan welcomed the contest produced by 12 candidates vying for seven seats - and said she was ready to start working for Peel's future:
