Disciplined over client account

An Island advocate has been rapped by his professional body over a client bank account.

Jeremy Carter of Carter’s Advocates appeared before the Advocate’s Disciplinary Tribunal over claims he’d paid money into an account that wasn’t in his name or that of his practice.

The tribunal fined Mr Carter £4,000 and ordered him to pay £16,250 costs.

He also gave an undertaking not to operate a client account until the Law Society is satisfied with his governance procedures.
