Former soldier off to Invictus Games

Matthew competing in four sports

A former soldier will be on his way to Florida this week – to take part in the Invictus Games for wounded, injured and sick serving personnel and veterans.

Lance Corporal Matthew Elliot served in the army in places like Iraq and the Falkland Islands, and was diagnosed as suffering post-traumatic stress disorder when he returned to the Island four years ago.

He’ll join thousands of athletes in Orlando as he competes in archery, shot-putt, discus and rowing when the games get underway next Sunday.

Matthew says he’s looking forward to taking part, even as a relative newcomer to the sports:
