Katy Perry sent terminally ill teenager a message following social media campaign

Members of an Island charity have spoken of their pride after a pop star sent a terminally ill teenager a message.

Katy Perry contacted 13-year-old Sophie Birtles following a social media campaign.

Sophie, who suffers from a rare genetic condition, is being cared for at Rebecca House as her health deteriorates.

Kirrie Norton from the charity and Margaret Simpson and Amy Davenport from Hospice IOM - say putting a smile on a patient's face is what makes their job worthwhile:
