Jail for woman over MDMA charge

Thirteen tablets hidden in bra

A Douglas woman has been sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison, after admitting possessing MDMA with intent to supply.

Forty-year-old Dawn Diane Neeson, of Clifton Terrace, appeared before Deemster Alastair Montgomerie at a Court of General Gaol Delivery yesterday afternoon.

The court heard Neeson had bought 20 tablets off someone at a house party, believing they were legal highs, with the intention of selling them to friends of hers.

Police were called to the Railway pub in Douglas on August 21 last year, as there was a woman refusing to leave the premises.

They said Neeson was drunk when they spoke to her.

She was taken to police headquarters, where a search revealed she had 13 tablets hidden in her bra.

Subsequent tests found they were ecstasy.

At a later interview, she said she should have checked what the pills actually were more thoroughly, given the person she had bought them off.

She also told officers she sometimes sold Class A drugs to friends at house parties she went to, but not for profit.

Deemster Montgomerie sentenced her to two years and six months in prison.
