Farewell to a true Manx entertainer

by isleofman.com 6th May 2016

Ian Qualtrough passes away at 90

The Island will say farewell to a true and popular Manxman this morning.

Ian Qualtrough from Castletown passed away at the age of 90.

He managed the family business, Qualtrough's Timber yard and Builders Merchant, was a JP and mainstay of the Castletown Methodist church.

But he was perhaps best known and loved by many as a wonderfully irreverent entertainer at community events around the Island, with a sharp eye and dry wit.

Dot Tilbury was his sidekick at many of these events for more years than she cares to remember.

She says Ian was a real character, whose life was well-lived.

Mr Qualtrough's funeral service will be held at ten thirty this morning (Fri 6th) at Arbory Street Methodist Church.
