Next GP education session to cover wide range of topics

by isleofman.com 6th May 2016
The second GP education session of 2016 takes place this month where doctors will discuss a number of important topics including:

• Access to hospice services for non-cancer patients
• The Island’s Breathe Easy support group which is run for patients with lung conditions
• The management of chronic pain; and
• The management of urinary tract infections.

Routine GP appointments will not be available on the afternoon of Thursday 12 May 2016, however urgent appointments will be available through locums and anyone needing to see a doctor should ring their GP Practice as normal.

Practices will remain open during the afternoon for patients to visit the practice nurse, collect test results, make future appointments, and order repeat prescriptions as normal.

The quarterly education sessions, which were established in 2012, give GPs the opportunity to discuss developments in medical care and best practice, and to examine ways to enhance care for patients in the Isle of Man.
