Councillor ready for municipal role

The new Mayor of Douglas will be sworn-in this afternoon (Wed 11th)

Councillor John Skinner will officially take office at 3pm in Douglas Town Hall. 

He takes over the figurehead role from Sara Hackman.

The ceremony is open to the public.

Meanhwile, council leader David Christian says the rising the cost of living in the Island is hitting the public hard.

Councillor Christian, who was re-elected in the recent local authority elections, spent three months canvassing in the run-up to polling day.

Speaking on Agenda this week, he said concern over household bills proved a major issue among ratepayers:
