Islanders urged to plan for end of life

Advice to make choices on tough decisions

Island residents are being encouraged to end the taboo surrounding discussion about end of life choices.

A new booklet 'Putting Your House in Order' launched this week, urges people to make clear their decisions and preferences on a wide range of issues - from settling their finances to funeral arrangements.

The free publication, which offers guidance on writing end of life and advanced care plans, will be available at outlets around the Island. 

The End of Life Matters Group comprises a range of local organisations, including Cruse Bereavement Care, the hospice, Kirk Braddan and the Department of Health and Social Care.

Members believe too many people put off discussing difficult issues - but say that often causes problems for loved ones faced with making tough decisions.

Chairman David Gawne says the booklet considers many factors:
