Chief minister vote reform to be raised in Tynwald

Chris Thomas to propose changes

Reforming the way the chief minister is voted for is again on the agenda for Tynwald next week.

West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas is bringing forward a motion which calls for the House of Keys' votes to be cast and read out first, before LegCo votes.

He also wants the names of who voted for whom read out.

A recent attempt at reform by Michael MHK Alf Cannan - calling for MLCs to be excluded from voting for the chief minister - was defeated by the Legislative Council after being approved by the House of Keys.

Mr Thomas says he's clear on what LegCo should and shouldn't be doing:
