Unemployment at 16 year low

by isleofman.com 13th May 2016

Rate in April falls to 1.6%

The government says April’s unemployment data shows fewer people are out of work now than at any time since 2008’s financial crisis.

The latest labour market statistics from the Cabinet Office says last month show that 481 men and 230 women were out of work.

It means the Island’s unemployment rate stands at 1.6 per cent – down 0.2 per cent from the March figure.

In its data, the government also reveals the north of the Island has the highest unemployment rate at 2.24 per cent, twice the rate in the west.
