Former Mayor of Douglas hosts Meet-a-Mum reunion

by isleofman.com 16th May 2016
Sara Hackman, while in office as Mayor of Douglas, hosted a reunion at Douglas town hall for Meet-a-Mum, a not-for-profit networking group bringing mothers with young children together.

She explained: ‘The group was a godsend for women who had either become new mums or who had just come to the Island and had no family or friends here. A newsletter was issued quarterly with a series of events from coffee mornings to dinner parties, play dates, swimming dates, craft events and treasure hunts. You could choose to go to lots or just the odd event and you were encouraged to organise your own gatherings.

‘It was a fantastic way of meeting people, as everyone was in the same boat and it was probably the first mums’ networking group inn the island; there were also off-shoots, from babysitting groups to twin groups, to Meet-a-Dad.

‘We’re planning a bigger reunion in November and want as many Meet-a-Mum members there as possible. For details contact me at shackman66@outlook.com or call 458445.’
