Two new Commissioners for Onchan

by isleofman.com 20th May 2016

No contest in by-elections

Onchan has two new commissioners - after a by-election saw them returned unopposed.

21-year-old signmaker James Cherry and youth worker Martin Macfarlane will join the board with immediate effect.

They'll fill the positions left vacant in last month's local authority elections, which attracted only five candidates for seven seats.

Onchan was one of twelve Island districts with seats left unfilled - more will be holding by-elections in the coming weeks.
