Artist Nancy’s boost for Mobile Library

by isleofman.com 25th May 2016
Renowned Isle of Man artist Nancy Corkish has generously donated two stunning watercolours to raise funds for the Mobile Library.
The day and night watercolour designs depict a Manx cottage with fuchsias and a moonlit coastal scene.

Packs of six cards – three reprints of each design – cost ?5 and are available from the Mobile Library bus, as well as the Family Library in Douglas.

They are also available from Bridge Bookshop in Port Erin, Lexicon Bookshop in Douglas, Alexander Nurseries in Douglas, St Paul’s Bookshop in Ramsey and Studio 42 in Port St Mary.

Twenty signed and mounted prints of each painting are also for sale, at ?50 each or ?90 for a pair, and can be ordered from the Family Library or on board the Mobile Library.

Sandra Henderson, librarian in charge of the Mobile Library, said: ‘Nancy has been so generous to support us in this way and we’re delighted to be able to use her paintings to raise valuable funds to maintain this essential service for the more isolated members of our Island community.

‘Thank you also to those shops and outlets who have agreed to sell the cards, to Quine & Cubbon in Port St Mary and the Art Store in Douglas.’

The original signed paintings will be auctioned at a later date.

The Mobile Library provides library services across the Isle of Man, including a Home Library Service, and deliveries to nursing and residential homes.

Along with the Family Library and its Schools Service, the Mobile Library is run as a charity. The Family Library is next to the children’s playground in Westmoreland Road, Douglas.

To find out more, check out the Mobile Library and Family Library pages on Facebook or visit www.familylibrary.im or call the library on 640650.
