Rich & Adrienne "Make it Manx"

by isleofman.com 27th May 2016
Former owners of Patchwork Cafe Rich & Adrienne Ashcroft are launching their new outside catering venture with a cookery demonstration showcasing seasonal Manx produce.

The couple will share their creativity, passion and care in preparation of a celebration supper using seasonal Manx produce from land, reservoir and sea for just eight budding cooks.

Adrienne, 48, the former beautician from Port St Mary said, 'Uppermost in our minds is using the best southern Manx produce available which has been such a huge part of our lives over the last five years.’

‘So we’ll be bringing together fifteen different Manx producers, allotment holders, farmers and fisherman into just three delicious courses.'

Rich, 46, will be hot smoking trout from Cringle Reservoir and baking traditional soda bread with wild garlic mayonnaise. Meanwhile, Adrienne will be making a fragrant Malaysian Lhaksa with fresh Manx Queenies trawled just offshore.

Dessert will be 'Braggards Pudding', poached Manx rhubarb with a ginger shortbread and honey ice cream, named in honour of the Nobel prize winning physician.

Rich added: ‘We’re leaving no stone unturned to bring the best of what’s local to this once off event, including trying to persuade fly fishermen on Cringle Reservoir to part with their catch!’

In addition to learning about local food supply chain and printed recipe leaflets, attendees will enjoy tasting all three courses with a chilled glass of wine.
