Arts Council Brass Band and Manx Music Season 2016

by isleofman.com 27th May 2016
The Villa Marina Arcade is hosting another Brass Band and Manx Music Season.

The season got under way on 15th May with Concert Brass and Manx Youth Band and will end on 22nd September with Crosby Silver Band.

The season is a popular annual feature of the Isle of Man Arts Council’s events, providing an opportunity for the Island’s brass bands and Manx musicians to play regularly throughout the summer in the beautiful Villa Marina Arcade.

All of the Island’s brass bands will perform during the season. Concerts take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 8pm in the Villa Marina Arcade and on Sunday afternoons at 3pm. Admission is free, although the performing artists may take a collection.

Geoff Corkish MBE MLC, Arts Council Chairman, said: ‘We have such a rich heritage of brass band music on the Isle of Man and the Arts Council is always proud to support that. Similarly, we are glad to include traditional Manx music in the programme. We are happy to welcome again the Jazz Aces and the Manx Swing Band and we are very pleased to have Jason Evans, Principal Trumpet with the Philharmonia Orchestra and one of the Arts Council’s Arts Ambassadors, performing with Douglas Town Band on 19th June.’
