by isleofman.com 28th May 2016

In a statement issued this morning, Saturday 28th May, the Southern 100 MCRC have confirmed that there was an incident at Billown Dip during the 850cc Classic Practice yesterday evening, involving two competitors and two course marshals.

Sadly, local rider Dean Martin died as a result of his injuries, the other rider involved, Jamie O’Brien from Liverpool is described as serious but stable.

One course marshal suffered head injuries - both he and Jamie O’Brien have been flown to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool for further treatment.

The second course marshal, a retired competitor, has ankle and shoulder injuries, but is expected to be discharged from Nobles Hospital later today.

Our thoughts are with those involved and their families and friends.
