The Department of Infrastructure is exploring options for the future provision of marine refuelling facilities.

The move is part of the Department’s desire to enhance the infrastructure and overall user experience at the Isle of Man’s harbours and marinas.

Refuelling facilities for vessels at Peel, Ramsey and Douglas are nearing the end of their operational lives and maintenance costs are rising.

The Department is seeking to identify parties with the knowledge, experience and resources to install and operate refuelling facilities at existing sites and also at Port St Mary harbour. It is also interested in hearing proposals to extend the fuelling service available to visiting craft during evenings and weekends.

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne MHK said: ‘This work is an integral part of the Department’s ambitions to make the most of the Isle of Man’s harbours. We want to work in partnership with the private sector to enhance the facilities and service provided to local users and visitors.’

A Prior Information Notice has been published this week to start the process to look at potential options. Applicants will then be contacted by the Department for further discussion about their proposals.
