Visiting motorcyclist dies following collision

Police have advised that at about 6:45am this morning, Thursday 2nd June 2016, a fatal road traffic collision occurred on the A18 Mountain Road at Hailwood’s Rise.

A BMW motorcycle travelling on the one way system towards Douglas collided with the rear of a Citroen C4 motor car driven by a local man.

The motorcyclist, a 55 year old man from Bolton, Lancashire, was treated for his injuries by the public, police and paramedics at the scene, but was pronounced dead on his arrival at Nobles Hospital.

The road was closed for several hours, whilst collision investigations were carried out.

Inspector Dave Dobbie, who is the senior investigating officer said; “This is a very sad outcome. I would like to appeal to anyone that has not been spoken to that may have witnessed the incident to get in touch with Roads Policing at Headquarters on 01624 631212.”
