Ramsey Lifeboat launches to person in sea

by isleofman.com 7th June 2016
Ramsey RNLI lifeboat and her volunteer crew were launched at just after midday yesterday (Monday 6th June) at 12:14 following reports of a person in distress in the sea off the Queen’s Pier, Ramsey.

The man had fallen from his yacht, moored at the visitor buoys in Ramsey Bay, whilst attempting to board his tender-dinghy.

A second yacht in the vicinity located and recovered the unharmed but shocked and cold casualty and took him into Ramsey Harbour, where he was safely transferred to a waiting ambulance.

Ramsey lifeboat meanwhile retrieved the drifting dinghy, which contained the man’s possessions. The dinghy was taken safely in tow to Ramsey Harbour.

Due to tidal conditions Ramsey lifeboat could not be recovered immediately and was moored temporarily in the harbour until mid-afternoon, before transferring to the beach and subsequent recovery to the boathouse.
