Councillor Raina Chatel assumes president’s role at IOMMA

by isleofman.com 7th June 2016

The Annual General Meeting of the Isle of Man Municipal Association (IOMMA) at the Meadows Pavilion at Douglas Golf Club saw Councillor Raina Chatel, the first female Honorary Freeman of the Borough of Douglas, assume her role as the association’s president.

Guest speaker was the Archdeacon of Sodor and Man, the Ven. Andrew Brown who said he was ‘pleased to be a part of the welcome’ to Councillor Chatel as the IOMMA’s new president. He continued: ‘I’ve known Councillor Chatel since I first arrived on the Island as she’s a faithful worshipper at St George’s and has been a great help in establishing, and acting as secretary to the board of Douglas Churches Town Centre Partnership, which I chair. Councillor Chatel is a great public servant and a wonderful, caring woman and I know you will be well served by her.’

Councillor Chatel said: ‘Douglas is honoured to hold the presidency for 2016-2017 and I am very pleased to have been voted to be president on behalf of the Borough, a role I held on a previous occasion when the presidency fell to Douglas.’
