by isleofman.com 8th June 2016

A group of young people have got together and are raising funds for the local children’s hospice, Rebecca House.

Young Enterprise Group "Firework Foundation" from St Ninian’s Lower School (Bemahague) are selling ?#?YoureAFireworkSophie wristbands!

These wristbands are ?1 with all proceeds going to Rebecca House.

Currently these wristbands are available to purchase from Rebecca House, the race office at the Grandstand during TT and the Creg Ny Baa. Further purchase points to be confirmed as soon as possible.

Please let fundraising know if you would like a special purple collecting box or any of the lovely wristbands either by email on fundraising@hospice.org.im or call 647433 and they will deliver them to you.

These wristbands with the hastag #youreafireworksophie and Rebecca House came about as a result of a social media campaign last month when the wish of a young Manx girl, Sophie Birtles, came true. She received a message of support from pop star Katy Perry.

The massive social media campaign which started in the Isle of Man by the parents and friends of Sophie quickly went global, and even trended on Twitter.

Twitter messages poured in after 13-year old Sophie was pictured at Rebecca House Children's Hospice with a picture quoting Katy's track, 'You're a Firework Sophie'.

In just over 48 hours, the quest to reach the US singer hit the target and a video message from Katy was sent to Sophie and her family.

Sophie’s family and Rebecca House would like to thank everyone for their support.
