Steam Packet TT traffic falls

Two per cent drop in passengers

Steam Packet bosses say TT passenger numbers would have dropped more significantly but for the company’s investment in its two ships.

Motorcycle numbers are down by six per cent compared to last year, with overall passenger figures, standing at 35,000, down two per cent on 2015.

However, Mark Woodward says that was expected as they were effectively operating with one less vessel compared to 12 months ago.

But for installing a removable deck on the Manannan and creating extra room on the Ben-my-Chree, Mr Woodward believes the figures would have been lower.
