Douglas Councillor resigns

By-election set for July 14th

A Douglas councillor has stepped down – just six weeks after being elected.

Kevin Oliphant Smith was successful in the contest in Victoria Ward in late April and was elected for a four year term.

However, he stood down for personal reasons, just before the monthly Council meeting on Wednesday.

Nominations for the vacancy close on June 22 and a provisional date of July 14 has been set for the by-election.
