Clare Christian to retire after July

The President of Tynwald is looking ahead, after announcing her retirement from politics.

Clare Christian - who's to become an OBE after featuring on the Queen's Birthday Honours list - informed colleagues she wouldn't be seeking re-election in 2016 last week.

She hopes a departure from the job will give her more time to focus on her role in the community.

Mrs. Christian, who's been in politics for nearly four decades, said challenges lie ahead for her successors.
