Peel RNLI flag day interrupted by a shout

by isleofman.com 13th June 2016
Just as Peel RNLI volunteer crew were about to open the lifeboat “Ruby Clery” to the public at 1pm on Thursday (9th June) they received a call from Belfast coastguard that a yacht was in difficulty almost 16 miles West of Peel.

The lifeboat under the command of coxswain Frankie Horne left Peel and quickly located the yacht “Sea Time” which had been on passage from Ardglass to Peel and had fuel problems along with its location in misty conditions.

The Peel crew quickly took the yacht in tow and arrived back in Peel at 5pm. the one occupant being none the worse for the experience.

Having spent 4 hours at sea the crew then opened the lifeboat to the public for viewing before eventually re-housing the lifeboat at almost 7pm. ready for re launch when needed.
