Closure of Council’s Housing Service’s ‘Red Door’

by isleofman.com 13th June 2016
Douglas Borough Council’s housing service’s ‘red door’ in John Street is to close permanently with effect from close of business Thursday June 16.

Service will resume on Monday June 20 in Ridgeway Street where a combined housing service/finance department counter operation will be provided.

The move follows completion of internal remedial work to Douglas Town Hall which necessitated the temporary relocation of the finance department to 13 Church Street.

Housing committee chairman David Ashford said: ‘Consolidating our housing service and finance department counter operation makes better use of space and will offer greater customer convenience as well as improved disabled and buggy access.

‘The council apologises for the disruption caused these past months, but the works were essential to maintain the fabric of the town hall and preserve this historic asset for the long term.’

The housing service phone number remains unchanged, 696435.
