Karran to press Gawne on Packet debt

MHK probes SPC's investment promise

A decision on the Steam Packet's user agreement for the Douglas harbour linkspan should be held off until after September's general election, according to an MHK.

The company recently announced proposals to invest £170 million in new vessels, in its outline sea services offer to the Manx government to extend the deal beyond 2026.

In the House of Keys today Onchan member Peter Karran will ask the infrastructure minister whether that sum will be added to the firm's existing debt.

Mr Karran says it's important the government acts in the best interests of the Manx people:
